about

"Dust Devils", the second EP by darkwave/dreamfolk duo Dismal Beeches, is a sonic reflection upon the concept of the desert. The album starts with a revelatory experience of a hermit who hears the voice of a primal god speaking through the rocks and the sands. It takes us through the insane sacrifices of religious fanatics on a zealous crusade after an illusory reward. This is followed by a sure promise of the desert's wrath against the people sunk in hebetude, which will bring about a dreadful devastation. It reveals a horrendous picture of the scorched, post-apocalyptic earth. Finally, it shows us the world through the eyes of a lonely wayfarer walking through the eternal night.
Take a deep breath. The journey begins.

Track Name: The Desert Speaks
The desert speaks of ancient ways
Of love and violence
The desert laughs, the desert scares
The vision’s blurred

Fast
Fast for days
Fast clarifies, reveals the mystery
There in the waste, I see the primal god
In quiet wind, the singing of the sand

The desert brings a snake
A winged angel with a cup of myrrh
A lonely raven casts his shadow on the sand
And rips the silence with his cry of agony

God speaks
The desert listens
The desert soaks the voice of god
I hear the rocks, the mountains resounding
The caves sing of the dreams of old
Track Name: The Quest For The Holy Grail
Day and night in the desert they went
Scorching sun, burning sand
Sacrifices that never end
For a higher cause

Will it ever be found? But of course!
How can you question the highest force?
Keep on, race your horse
For a higher cause

The Quest for the Holy Grail
Our Lord will never fail

Far from home, far from life
Sand in their eyes, sand in the skies
A new sunrise, a new day in search
For a higher cause

Can it ever be found? But of course!
How can you question the highest force?
Press on, have no remorse
He steers your course

The Quest for the Holy Grail
Our Lord will never fail

Kill the infidel, burn the witch
Pay no heed to their cry
Spare no one, slay mother and child
For your redemption is nigh

The Quest for the Holy Grail
Our Lord will never fail
Track Name: Dust Devil
Once upon a time
Near a border line
Spirit-walkers went
Sudden danger scent

Planet’s guts’ abuzz
Vision’s getting fuzzed
Devil’s on the loose
Rectifying noose

Years of wrongly chosen path
We should’ve known better
Feel the imminence of wrath
Of the desert

Stars are closing in
Deadliest of sins
Not to be compared
Here they’re running, scared

See the demons’ eyes
In the blackened skies
In the heart of storm
Lies a giant worm

Years of wrongly chosen path
We should’ve known better
Feel the imminence of wrath
Of the desert

Half a world away
Where big decision's made
See them splash and splurge
Until they get the urge

Wounded are the blessed
Poorest take the rest
Everything’s destroyed
Falling into the void

Years of wrongly chosen path
We should’ve known better
Feel the imminence of wrath
Of the desert
Track Name: Choronzon
In the Wind of the mind arises the turbulence called I
All life is choked in the shower of barren thoughts
The desert is the Abyss, one spot accursed in a world of bliss
The Stars are but thistles in that waste

Speak, speak, speak, millions of mad voices in my brain,
Like dust devils senselessly they swirl
Swirling swirling swirling useless thoughts, pointless thoughts,
Each shrieks, "I am I! I am insane!"

All is dispersion. These are the qualities of things
The world of adjectives, and there is no substance therein
The Dweller in the Abyss in the confusion of his thought
Is terrified by silence, by silence can he be brought to obey

Swirling swirling swirling useless thoughts, pointless thoughts,
Each shrieks, "I am I! I am insane!"

In my soul is utmost fear
In my soul is utmost fear

Speak, speak, speak, millions of mad voices in my brain,
Like dust devils senselessly they swirl
Swirling swirling swirling useless thoughts, pointless thoughts,
Each shrieks, "I am I! I am insane!"
Track Name: The Blackest Night
I saw a light a while ago
A lone gleam down the road
Came closer only to see it vanish
I'm marching on into the night

I don't remember your face
The sound of your laughter, the taste of your tears
Of joy and pain, and wildest fears
All perish in memory
I'm marching on into the night

Where are the righteous? Where are the wicked?

Where are the chosen ones?
All turned into the anthracite

Where are the wealthy? Where are the poor?

Where are all the oracles?
All gone into the blackest night

The torn tarp I covered you with
Was taken away by the piercing wind
Under these hills now you forever rest
I'm bound to go on all alone
I'm marching on into the night

Shadows creep soundlessly in the dark
As I'm going down the burnt black road
Bones turned to sand squeak under my feet
I'm alone in the world of death
Marching on into the night

I saw a light a while ago
A blue glow down the road
Came closer only to see it vanish
I'm marching on into the night
