about

Dismal Beeches' debut album, "Into the Woods", which can be roughly categorized as a crossbred offspring of dark wave and dream folk, is a mystic journey in the depths of the Forest told through different stories. We start off at a recluse’s retreat in the woods, then proceed through an enchanted woodland, as twilight shadows lurk behind the trees. Stop by a rural asylum to hear a dreary tale of a beggar, and finally step into the heart of the black forest to meet the spirits of old. To find your way out, follow the rising moon.

Track Name: Into The Woods
One day I'll go to my house in the woods
To the ferns, and the trees, and the laughing spirits
I will dive into the deep green sea without coming back
Let my roots and my beard grow
With black cats all over me
With black cats all over me

And I will take you there
Carving your name into my hand and my heart
I will share with you my secrets in the dark
And love you always
With white owls all over us
With white owls all over us

And we will live there forever
And we'll die in an instant
Dissolving into the turf
Our roots growing deep
With black snakes all around
With black snakes all around

With black cats all over me
With white owls all over us
With black snakes all around
Track Name: A Tramp's Tale Told Late At Night Near The Salvation Army Homeless Shelter
She walked down the Pine Rd. at six
She looked as she's missed something or someone

As she passed the barn, I gazed
At the devilish way those gold locks were made

She entered the woods from the side,
Left the old crib behind, and gone out of sight

She never made it back home,
We knew all along that there's something wrong.

The heart of the woods was so dense,
I used my sixth sense to get through the trees

She stood at the edge of the woods,
She did all she could, but she lost her strength

As the sun plunged down from the cliff,
Her body got stiff, and her eyes petrified

She never made it back home,
We knew all along that there's something wrong.
Track Name: The Blackest Night
I saw a light a while ago
A lone gleam down the road
Came closer only to see it vanish
I'm marching on into the night
I'm marching on into the night

I don't remember your face
The sound of your laughter, the taste of your tears
Of joy and pain, and wildest fears
All perish in memory
I'm marching on into the night

Where are the righteous? Where are the wicked?

Where are the chosen ones?
All turned into the anthracite

Where are the wealthy? Where are the poor?

Where are all the oracles?
All gone into the blackest night

The torn tarp I covered you with
Was taken away by the piercing wind
Under these hills now you forever rest
I'm bound to go on all alone
I'm marching on into the night

Shadows creep soundlessly in the dark
As I'm going down the burnt black road
Bones turned to a sand squeak under my feet
I'm alone in the world of death
Marching on into the night

I saw a light a while ago
A blue glow down the road
Came closer only to see it vanish
I'm marching on into the night
I'm marching on into the night…
